Halle Barry is still (to this day) the only woman of color to win the lead actress Oscar. Two things were memorable for Barry this night: 1) her see-through floral gown, and 2) her acceptance speech. The combination of her gratefulness and sincerity left such a deep impression on viewers worldwide.
