We all know there are a ton of reasons why exercise is so beneficial for our health. There are many simple ways that have been successfully proven by many individuals on how to smartly lose weight by doing exercise. A good motivation to get off the couch and get moving is that physical activity not only keeps our bodies healthy but our minds too. Let’s take a look at a few ways on how we can all maximize our workouts to help us lose weight more efficiently.


Do something you enjoy

Although this may be obvious but the workout that’ll help you lose fat is the exercise you don’t hate or curse at. Plus, it’s more likely you’ll work harder and more frequently when doing an exercise you enjoy. There are tons of ways to burn calories, if running may be boring for you, be creative and pick something fun!

Put Your Phone Away

Sure, take your phone on a run with you or bring it into the workout class. But, please don’t let it distract you and reduce the amount of calories you can burn. If you need it for the music, great. Just don’t let divert your attention.

Do Cardio

If getting a membership at the gym is too expensive, you barely have time to make it to the workout class, or overworked your body from yesterdays weight training, no problem – do cardio! No matter your fitness level, cardio is a great exercise and there are so many options to choose from. Go for a walk, ride your bike, or just walk around your neighborhood, in the end, it helps to burn those calories.

Do Not Fear Weights

For those of you who didn’t know this before, lifting weights can burn just as many calories as doing cardio. An added advantage to doing weights is that it helps you build muscle, so the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn once you’re workout is over. So go for it, weights can become one of your best friends!

Drink Water

To many, this is possibly another obvious one, but good hydration guarantees you to work out at the intensity you need to boost the amount of calories you burn. So think of H20 as another gym buddy!

It’s Ok To Have A Rest Day

Exhausting your body every day with exercise is not always a good thing. You can sometimes over-stresses your body, which then leads to injury or burnout.  Healthy weight loss most certainly does not happen overnight, but rather takes time. By training smartly and taking days off to give you and your body is more than okay and often helps you achieve your goals quicker.

Ditch The Scale

The scale can be very useful and somewhat of an important gadget for those trying to reach or maintain a certain weight goal. But for others, it can really be a negative gadget that stand in the way of their success.  Its really recommended that when trying to lose weight we forget about the scale!
