Olsen said that a young McCormick and her friend Susan Cowsill were once caught shoplifting. Apparently McCormick hid in the car while her friend took the blame.

It was not just the football hitting Marcia in the fact that was inspired by real life events. Schwartz would often use real life events in order to write episodes. He used things that personally happened to the actors. Plus he used their personality traits and habits. Just like when Barry, AKA Greg, would play music in different episodes, that’s because he always did so in real life.
