Elly made an effort to function without Steven, but she had grown to depend on him. She was too old to take care of herself in many ways. Her kids kept telling her to relocate south and get out of the house. But she had brought up her entire family there. The final piece of Peter she had was his house. Despite the fact that Elly couldn’t bear to part with it, she was starting to think that she wouldn’t have a choice.
