Even though fertility treatment helps a woman fall pregnant, it can also cause complications like in the case of the McCaugheys. The doctors explained the risk of such a pregnancy and took it further by telling the couple that they should think about saving only some of the babies. This would mean protecting some of the embryos but not all.
