Originally Milo Ventimiglia auditioned for the part of Clark Kent. While the role went to Tom Welling, the WB producers liked him so much that they gave him the role of Jess on Gilmore Girls. Smart thinking! Ventimiglia would later play a different comic book-style superhero on the series Heroes.

The sound effect that the series used for Kryptonite radiating is the exact same sound that was used in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman back in 1993.
