Lance Armstrong – $50 Million
American professional cyclist Lance Armstrong is the most well-known in the sport for numerous reasons. For awhile, Lance was one of the highest-earning athletes in the entire world. Armstrong was the winner of 7 Tour de France events, and was the most decorated in the history of the sport. Soon, that all came crashing down. In 2012, it was revealed that Lance Armstrong had been using performance enhancing drugs. He then became infamous for the largest doping scandal in cycling history. He was banned from racing and was forced to give up all of his medals, including sponsorships with big names like Nike. On the flip side, he has inspired many cancer patients and his cancer foundation has raised more than $500 million. Armstrong is currently worth $50 million.
