In 1987, Guns’n’Roses, led by the lithe and limber Axl Rose, became undisputed kings of complex rock music, not just for wearing bike shorts on stage. “Appetite for Destruction” has sold more than 30 million copies around the world, with “Use Your Illusion” selling another 35 million. Rose was known for causing riots and throwing liquor bottles at fans during live shows back then, in addition to having a powerful voice. However, due to personal differences, the project quickly fell apart. The band went on hiatus for a long time before releasing the album “Chinese Democracy,” which did not perform as well as their label had hoped.
