Mickey Rourke made his comedic debut in 1982 with the film Diner. His acting ability and ability to discuss the controversial subject matter in his positions propelled him to stardom in 1986’s 912Weeks and 1987’s Angel Core, though it didn’t entirely break new ground. Despite being mild by today’s standards, these films cemented his status as a sex icon alongside co-stars Kim Basinger and Lisa Bonet. Rourke, on the other hand, had had enough of acting and turned to boxing in 1991. He used to train as a fighter when he was younger. His boxing career was cut short after only three years.

Rourke landed a few small roles when he returned to acting after a career in boxing in the 1990s. Despite his face being badly bruised from his time on the fight scene, his incredible talent encouraged him to work tirelessly, frequently playing misfits and misguided tough guys. Rourke didn’t appear in another major supporting role until 2005’s Sin City. In 2009, his performance in The Wrestler earned him a Golden Globe, a BAFTA, and an Oscar nomination. He’s had a lot of cosmetic surgery over the years and is a handsome older man as a result.
