The iconic television series Welcome Back, Kotter gave John Travolta his start. Travolta’s success, however, is largely due to the 1970s blockbusters Saturday Night Fever and Grease. He was young, charismatic, and had a skill in dancing. His posters adorned the walls of millions of young girls. He seemed to have everything figured out. In the 1980s, his acting career took a significant hit because he couldn’t seem to land a leading role. Even when he did, the movies vanished into oblivion. Travolta’s roles began to reappear, which was fortunate.
