5 Super Facts About Bohemian Rhapsody’s Rami Malek

American actor Rami Malek took fans’ breath away with his winning performance in the much-anticipated Bohemian Rhapsody movie. The dramatic biography made its way to the silver screen 27 years after the death of Queen‘s lead singer, Freddie Mercury. Rami Malek wasn’t dealt an easy hand when he had to play the part of the famed singer and songwriter, but he did so with finesse and success. Malek is a budding star, so let’s learn a little bit more about him.

He’s Part Egyptian

Alright, well actually his parents were originally from Egypt. Malek was born in California, so I guess that doesn’t mean he’s a Pharaoh or anything, but he does feel a undeniable connection to his homeland. It should be noted that he did have two different roles as an Egyptian, both in Night at the Museum and in Twilight: Breaking Dawn. He was a charismatic Pharaoh in the former, and a mesmerizing vampire in the latter. Regardless of the roles he’s played, we all still think he’s a mummy’s boy!

He Has A Brother And A Sister

Rami Malek has two siblings, a brother and a sister. His identical twin brother, Sami, is 4 minutes younger than he is, and he works as a teacher. They also have an older sister, Yasmine, and she works as a physician. Their parents must have taught them what good work ethic is!

He Had Celebrity Schoolmates

Wouldn’t it be great to go to school with celebrities? Not like Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum in 21 Jump Street, although that would truly be awesome! Rami Malek went to school with some famous actresses, like The O.C. star Rachel Bilson, and Spiderman‘s Kirsten Dunst. Dunst was one year below Malek, and they had the same music teacher.

He Was In Gilmore Girls

You might not finger Malek for the Gilmore Girls kind of guy, but that is where he made his acting debut. It was just a guest appearance, but hey, he was loved for it! Believe it or not, Malek actually had to pay a fee of $2,000 to be on the television series. So, what do you think? Was it worth giving him a shot on the big screen?

Rami Malek’s A Winner

He’s currently the star of the television series Mr. Robot, and his excelling performance has earned him impressive awards. Aside from a collection of nominations for Golden Globes, Emmy’s and Screen Actor Guild Awards, to name a few, he won an Emmy for “Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series”. Most recently he won a Golden Globe for “Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama” for his role as Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody.
