Irish singer-songwriter and actress Carly Smithson finished in sixth place during season seven of American Idol. Currently she is the lead singer for the gothic metal band We Are the Fallen.

Speaking of season seven, Michael Johns finished in eighth place. The year after Idol wrapped up, he released a music album, Hold Back My Heart, selling 20,000 copies. Sadly Johns passed away in 2014 at age 35.
