Kate & William: The Story Behind Their Fairytale Romance

Published on 11/24/2017

Once upon a time, in Paddington, London, a young prince lived in a very beautiful royal castle. And in a different land (Reading, Berkshire, England) far far away, lived a cute young girl, who had no idea that one day she’d be Queen of England. From living in the same college dormitory to saying “I Do”, to having two children together, and becoming the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton and Prince William have had a fairy tale romance from the beginning… the very beginning that is.

2001 – 2005 | Where It All Began

2001: William and Kate studied art history together at St Andrews University.

2002: Together they lived in a student house with two of their friends.

2003: Tis the season! Kate breaks up with her previous boyfriend and her and Williams romance begins to flourish.

2005: A ski trip in Klosters turned into the media’s favorite story, and in June (that same year), the two look charmingly happy sitting together at William’s graduation ceremony.

March 2006 | College To Adulthood

The “job world” welcomed these two with open arms, as they began seeking their paths in the “adult world”. Kate was an accessories buyer for Jigsaw (a fashion chain) and William joined the Elite Royal Military Academy (Sandhurst). Kate also made one of her most noteworthy public appearances (to date), watching her Prince graduate as an Army officer.

February 2007 | Time To Meet The Royal Family

At this point, there were many “rumors” of Kate acceptance into the royal clan, and her presence at William’s stepsisters wedding was (definitely) one of those signs. Moreover, this was the year that Kate spent majority of her time in London, while William started a new military training course in Southwestern England.

March 2007 | Taking A Break

This was a sad (sad) time for not only Kate and William, but for their many their admirers as well. Regardless of Kate’s (obvious) acceptance into the Royal clan, several outside pressures lead the two to part ways. “We were both very young … and we were both defining ourselves as such and being different characters…” – Prince William. In addition to “young love” being a factor, the media’s relentless glare was inevitably another influential factor to their relationship.

June 2009 | Quality Time

Being in the spotlight 24/7 can’t be easy, or enjoyable, at all (we assume). So, to ensure that they get/spend as much quality time together, alone, during William’s breaks from military training the couple did whatever they could to avoid being in the glare of the cameras.
