Titanic was headed on its maiden voyage to New York City from Southampton until tragedy literally struck. After coming into contact with an iceberg, the Titanic sank and out of 2,224 crew and passengers, 1,500 died. To this day, it is still considered one of the deadliest peacetime maritime accidents.
