She got Hollywood’s attention in her roles in some of Robert Altman’s movies. Of course, you remember her in McCabe & Mrs. Miller, Brewster McCloud, Nashville, 3 Women and Thieves Like Us.. Ten years later, she became even more popular because of her leading roles in Popeye and The Shining. After acting in the 80’s and 90’s, she became a producer of children’s shows. Her last role in the movies was in the first part of the 2000’s. She made the front-page news in 2016 because Dr. Phil and USA Today said she was mentally ill.

She was already world-famous in the 70’s. Winning an Oscar for her role in The Last Picture Show, hallmarked the new phase of her stardom in Hollywood. She also earned several awards for her role as Phyllis in The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Now, she has around 300 awards on her belt. She still acts to this day although she is well over the age of 90! What an unstoppable woman!
