Calling The Authorities
Even though humans are smarter than elephants, the locals still felt stunned by what they saw. They simply looked at the baby elephant in the whole and watched the grieving adult elephants. Of course, they could tell that it was impossible to get the calf out of there using bare hands. The elephant was probably going to die there, so they decided to let the authorities know instead.
