Hurricane Katrina
While Celine tries her best to avoid political issues, she couldn’t help but to get involved in Hurricane Katrina disaster relief efforts. She criticized the US governments failure to quickly respond and let so many people suffer. She said on Larry King, “There are people still there waiting to be rescued. To me that is not acceptable … How can it be so easy to send planes in another country to kill everybody in a second and destroy lives. We need to serve our country.”

Gary Bongiovanni, president, and editor-in-chief of Pollstar really admires Celine! He stated in an interview that she redefined what artists could do in Vegas! Kurt Melien, who is the vice-president of entertainment at Caesar’s Palace agreed and said “Celine was a pioneer without question … Twenty years ago, we couldn’t have got someone the stature of Britney Spears to appear in Vegas. Stars like her would never have considered it if Celine hadn’t paved the way. She changed the face of modern Vegas.”
