As a singer-songwriter, Sophie Michelle Ellis entered the music scene of the ‘90s. In those days, she was a member of an indie rock band called The audience. After they broke up, she started her own solo career. Her music had influences from the disco, pop, and electronic genres. “Read My Lips,” her debut solo album, was released in 2001 and climbed to the second top spot on the UK Albums Chart. It has gone double-platinum since then. Her second one came out in 2007 and reached the seventh pot.
