His Decision
Steven concluded that he needed to go for his own good. His parents were thrilled and gave him enough money to stay in a motel for a few weeks while he sought for job. Nevertheless, as he packed, Steven was unconcerned about what the future in the city would hold. He was just concerned with bidding his final goodbyes to Elly.

Steven then proceeded to break the awful news to Elly. She was taken aback by the news. They had gotten close since they had spent so much time together. Steven, on the other hand, thought he had no alternative because his parents were in such dire financial straits. He had to find a way to sustain himself. He simply grieved the idea that Elly wouldn’t be as important in the future. So he reasoned.
