This only lasted until he starred in the television movie Elvis. He was nominated for an Emmy for this and this was his breakthrough role. Not long after, he played Snake Plissken in the John Carpenter film Escape From New York and reprised the anti-hero in the sequel, Escape from Los Angeles.

Here’s an interesting tidbit: Kurt Russell played a part in a Walt Disney mystery. Before the demise of the legendary animator in 1966, Disney wrote down the words “Kurt Russell”! The actor was once a child actor with Walt Disney Studios. The studio actually snapped young Russell up for a long-term contract!
