The Final Straw
Nadya Suleman pressed her husband about the issue since she very much wanted to have children, and if they couldn’t have any kids employing the traditional method, then they’d have to find an alternative– at least, that was Nadya’s opinion. However, her husband didn’t quite agree and their different views on the matter was beginning to drive a wedge between them. The final straw for Marcos was when Nadya suggested in vitro fertilization (IVF), which is a procedure where an egg cell is fertilized by a sperm cell outside of the body, most often in a test tube. Marcos warned that if Nadya went through with it, he would surely leave her.
Nothing Is Free
Even though in vitro fertilization isn’t really a complicated process and it is becoming increasingly popular, the method doesn’t have a success rate of 100 percent. Another reason the general public hasn’t widely adopted it is the particularly hefty price tag the operation comes with, but none of these fazed Nadya Suleman, who had gotten tired of failure. It is usually recommended by medical experts to include more than one egg during IVF since some of the eggs sometimes don’t succeed in the fertilization process. This means that there was another risk involved in the procedure and one which would turn out to be particularly relevant to the case of Nadya Suleman.
