On the morning of Halloween in 2003, Bethany Hamilton was riding the waves off the coast of Hawaii. The famous surfer had been surfing when a shark attacked her and left her on the board with an arm dangling off of it. She lost 60% of her blood and had to get several surgeries. The good news is that she recovered and even returned to the water not even a month after the incident.

Her family could do nothing but watch in horror as her body was torn apart. The only thing that remained of her was a headless torso.
