Angelina and his ex-husband Billy announce the adoption of a six-month-old orphaned baby named Maddox from a Cambodian orphanage in 2002. Jolie went through a lot of legal procedures to settle her adoption. She raised the child as a single mother because Thornton did not take any custody of the child and they got separated a few months after the adoption. Three years after, Jolie adopted her second child in 2005 and named her Zahara Marley, a six-month-old baby girl from an Ethiopian orphanage.
