Playboy held a poll to determine the best drummer and Karen came out on top! Not everyone was happy with the result, however. Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham was one of these people. Upon seeing the results, he had something to say. “I’d like to have it publicized that I came in after Karen Carpenter in the Playboy drummer poll!” he sneered. “She couldn’t last ten minutes with a Zeppelin number.”

Lip Syncing
Unbeknownst to many people, lip-syncing during live performances is actually a common practice in the industry. Even Karen and Richard resorted to this method when they appeared at the 1972 Academy Award ceremony to perform “Bless the Beasts and Children”.
