Nation Mourns
Karen’s interment was held on February 8, 1983. More than a thousand fans came to attend the funeral of the young musician. Of course, her close friends Olivia Newton-John and Dorothy Hamill were also present. Burris was even in attendance and he even put his wedding ring in the casket. Let us not forget about the millions of fans who all mourned her passing despite the geographic distance.

The last time that Karen Carpenter sang in public was on December 17, 1982. It was during a gig at the Buckley School, an educational institution located in Los Angeles, California. She sang several Christmas carols as a favor for her godchildren and the other students. It goes without saying that no one knew it would be the final time they hear her sing.
