Richard Moves On
It was undoubtedly hard to lose his sister, but Richard had to move on. In 1984, he began his own family after marrying his adopted first cousin with whom he had five children. They honored his sister by naming one of their daughters after her and by giving another child the name Kristi Lynn, which Karen wanted to name her own child.
A Living Legacy
The family put up the “Carpenter Memorial Foundation”, an organization that focuses on supporting research about eating disorders, specifically anorexia nervosa. It has since changed its name to the “Carpenter Family Foundation” and expanded its projects to entertainment, education, and the arts.
