While at a tournament in Thailand in 2000, Tiger was actually offered Thai citizenship. However, he very politely turned the offer down. Tiger’s mother, Kultida “Tida”, is originally from Thailand. She met Tiger’s dad while he was on tour of duty in 1968. So no, they weren’t just handing out citizenship willy-nilly, Woods had a legitimate reason to be offered such an honor.
