I Apologize
In 1996, Tiger Woods was set to receive the award for top college golfer at a Stanford dinner. However, he skipped the event. Why we don’t know, but what we do know is that Woods personally wrote 200 letters to the guests apologizing for his not being there.
No, Thank You
While at a tournament in Thailand in 2000, Tiger was actually offered Thai citizenship. However, he very politely turned the offer down. Tiger’s mother, Kultida “Tida”, is originally from Thailand. She met Tiger’s dad while he was on tour of duty in 1968. So no, they weren’t just handing out citizenship willy-nilly, Woods had a legitimate reason to be offered such an honor.
