Battle of the Bands
The trio won the 1966 Battle of the Bands at Hollywood Bowl. As a prize, they signed with RCA records. There, they recorded several singles but they were ultimately dropped by the label. Why? Apparently, the studio did not believe that they would become successful. In 1967, Karen graduated from high school and followed her brother’s footsteps by choosing to attend Long Beach State. The trio continued to make recordings in Joe Osborn’s studio.
Small Time Job
When Karen finished her college education, she had to search for a job like most fresh graduates. She took a job in the printing business like her father for some time. However, she would be committed to making music not long after. Good choice, don’t you think?
