Two Winners
After her impressive performance in the competition, there was the awards ceremony. A pair of silver cups was to be awarded to two gymnasts, one female and one male. Nadia Comăneci took hers graciously and the latter was given to Bart Conner of the United States. This was their first meeting and little did they know that it would be a life-altering moment for them.

When the two athletes were modeling their models, photographers made sure to capture the moment on film. Someone even barked out, “Kiss for the cameras, please!” Bart Conner, aged 18 at the time, decided to plant a kiss on the cheek of 14-year-old Nadia for the photos. The moment was immortalized in an adorable photograph and the shot definitely helped the pair of gymnasts become even more famous.
